how do people hurt?
1. we hurt physically;
2. we hurt emotionally;
3. we hurt relationally;
why do we get hurt?
because we live in a imperfect world with imperfect people;
1. we get hurt by what people say;
2. what people think about us causes us to get hurt;
3. what people do to us causes us to get hurt;
There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health. (NKJV proverbs 12:18)

famous phrase : time heals all wounds;
but it is not always true;
we need to settle the problem that exists;
& not by leaving it there untouched;
5remedies that work!
1. don't ignore the hurt!
I was mute with silence, I held my peace even from good; And my sorrow was stirred up. (NKJV psalm 39:2)
My heart was hot within me; While I was musing, the fire burned. Then I spoke with my tongue (NKJV psalm 39:3)
2. don't run from the hurt;
So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest;
Indeed, I would wander far off, and remain in the wilderness;
I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest;
(NKJV psalm 55: 6 -8)
3. don't hide the hurt!
When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long. (NKJV psalm 32:3)
because possession cannot compensate for pain
revealing your feelings is the beginning of your healing process;
there's no closure when there's disclosure;
4. don't resent the hurt!

5. don't give up!
Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD (NKJV psalm 130:1)
Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. (NKJV psalm 130:2)
REFOCUS!
whatever you resist, it persist;
you need to replace it;
focus your mind on something else;
If you would prepare your heart, and stretch out your hands toward Him (NKJV job 11:13)
3steps in refocusing!
1. put your heart right - forgive;
2. reach out to God;
3. face the world again, firm and courageous;
